Gov. Tom Wolf condemns Trump campaign lawsuit seeking to temporarily halt vote count

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Gov. Tom Wolf condemned a lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump’s campaign that seeks to temporarily stop the counting of votes in Pennsylvania, calling it a “disgraceful” attempt to undermine the election.

During a news conference Wednesday evening, Wolf said the lawsuit goes against the most basic principles of democracy and takes away the right of every American citizen to cast their vote and choose their leaders.

The governor said the state will fight every attempt to disenfranchise voters.

“Let me be clear: In Pennsylvania, every vote is going to count. I’m going to fight like hell to protect the vote of every Pennsylvanian. I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure that every vote counts because in Pennsylvania, every voice matters, every vote matters,” he said.

Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar said she can’t comment on active litigation but added that the state would oppose any effort to shut down the vote count.

“We get to decide when the last vote is counted,” she said.
