Lindsey Graham: Dems ‘Can’t Have It Both Ways’ on Immigration Reform

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., says Democrats can’t “have it both ways” on immigration reform in response to opposition to President Donald Trump’s plan to work around the Flores Settlement Agreement.

“They object to immigrant family separation because minors can only be held by [the Department of Homeland Security] for 20 days,” he tweeted Thursday. “But when [President Donald] Trump tries to keep families together for a period of time to adjudicate claims, they also object.”

The Flores Settlement Agreement limits how long the U.S. government can detain minors with their parents. The Trump administration on Wednesday announced it was ending the agreement, which required the U.S. government to keep migrant kids in the least restrictive setting possible.

Democratic presidential candidates, including Sens. Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren, have spoken out against the rule change.
