Trump campaign plans eight-figure ad buy in early voting states and places he won in 2016

President Trump’s reelection campaign announced an eight-figure advertising buy focused on the economy and targeting swing states and states where voting has started, such as North Carolina.

Spots will air in local broadcast and cable networks in North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, and Maine 2nd Congressional District. They will also run on cable nationally. The commercials focus on the economy and feature people attesting to how their lives have improved under Trump.

The campaign described the testimony featured in the ads as coming from “real people whose lives have been positively impacted by President Trump’s policies.”

Campaign manager Bill Stepien said the buy is guided by data “and our pathway to 270.”

“This week’s advertising continues our strategic plan to follow the dates on the calendar, the states that are voting early, the data that always guides our decision-making and our pathway to 270,” Stepien said.

Early voting has started in North Carolina and begins later this week in Minnesota.

The campaign has refocused their ad spending over the last two weeks, culling planned ad buys in states such as New Hampshire, Iowa, and Nevada and redirecting about $1.89 million into Arizona, Florida, Maine, North Carolina, and Nebraska, all states Trump won in 2016.

Trump’s record on economic issues, including job growth and creation for women and minorities, is contrasted in the ads with Biden’s years in office as vice president, in the Senate, and in Congress.

In one spot, a small business owner identified as Kim says, “Biden could never handle the economy after COVID,” calling the prospect a disaster.

“I know there are more women who have been employed and minorities than ever before,” she says. “And it’s just been the greatest economic environment I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.”

Another ad calls Trump “the jobs president” and says that during Biden’s years in Washington, “Made in America was replaced with made in China” and that “American workers paid the price: millions of jobs lost to Mexico and China.”

The economy continues to be an area where Trump polls better than Biden.
